So much has happened. Where to begin, and what to include?

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that we would be "known" for our cats. We? Our? In 1970, I met Frances Mooney while stuffing envelopes for a California Senate campaign. Immediately, we became best friends, dated for three years, and have been married for thirty-four. Together, we started The Gallery Store, a custom picture framing business and fine art photography gallery. A few years later, in partnership with fellow photography enthusiasts, our combined efforts founded the Museum of Photographic Arts, in Balboa Park. Thirteen years ago, we closed our retail business location and exhibition space to do custom framing by appointment in our home, and let our cats support us. What?

Our cats are our kids, spending more time in the house than us. So, if possession is nine-tenths of the law, then our home is truly our Cats' House. The least that we can do for our feline family is to consider their needs and transform the house for their amusement. As every cat lover knows, cats love to look down on us. In 1988, we started punching holes in our walls and connecting the openings with an overhead catwalk. Currently, over one hundred and forty feet of feline highway connects most of the rooms in our (their) home.

What followed are several books that we have authored and photographed for, the first appropriately titled "The Cats' House." When the book was premiered at our first Open House and Benefit for the National Cat Protection Society, nine hundred paying visitors toured The Cats' House in four hours. Crazy.

Our elevated cat lifestyle has been the recipient of countless media exposure. Television and print crews from throughout the world have visited The Cats' House; with segments often appearing on the Home and Garden Channel, and Animal Planet. Print media has included the New York Times, PEOPLE Magazine, National Geographic, and the National Enquirer. Did I mention that our cats are movie stars? The Cats' House was even featured as one of five unique lifestyles in the film "Home Movie." Amazing.

In 1999, our second book, "Cats into Everything," was introduced with a signing at Book Expo, in Los Angeles. Autographing copies in the same room at the same time were Julia Childs and Dr. Ruth. How to compete? Our autograph line was the longest of all the authors, so long that Dr. Ruth sent her assistant over to see what book was outdrawing hers. Now I tell everyone that cats are more popular than food or sex. Some people disagree.

Hardly anyone knows, or cares, anymore about our past arts involvements. Oh, well. We've fed and nourished our feline family for years. Why not let them put kibble on our table?

Enough of our cat tales. I look forward to hearing your stories!

Walnut Creek CA semi-retired mortgage broker Married

I've been having a big time in Northern California.  I came up here in January 1970 to go to U.C. Berkeley and never left.  I did a 13-year stint in Sacramento. (Can you say HOT?). I moved back to the Bay Area in 1990, and after 20 years of unwedded bliss, Nancy and I got married in 1991. Why rush into anything?  I have been in real estate lending, real estate investing, property management and real estate sales for almost 30 years.

We now live in Walnut Creek, where Nancy works four days a week as an administrative law judge.  I am semi-retired, but still brokering some loans.

The photo was taken last year on a hike in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah.

Red Bluff CA retired Single

Hi All
Retired at 50 (a MAJOR life goal) and having FUN. My part time job is working on my top 100 things to do list. Headed to the Amazon Jan '08 for 4 wks. When I'm not at "work" I enjoy traveling (camping&hotels), fishing, flying RC aircraft , shooting , archery, making amber jewelry, hiking and just being outdoors.
If any of you are in my neighborhood feel free to contact me. I enjoy taking people fishing or just sightseeing.   N. Cal. has dozens of beautiful lakes and my home base is 5 min. from a Sac. River boat ramp. I have a lake boat and a river boat--your choice.
Have fun

Santa Rosa CA Vineyard & Winery owner nunesvineyard.com Married 1

After retiring from our careers as graphic designer and firefighting helicopter pilot, my husband, Fred, and I with daughter, Tamara, moved North to Santa Rosa, planted a vineyard and started a winery. This is not what I pictured I'd be doing in my later fifties. It's sometimes hard work and I almost always love it. I'm planning to attend our fortieth and look forward to catching up with you all.

The 40th Reunion was the best!  Apart from the joy of regularly chatting with reunion committee members for the preceding nine months, the highlights were:  having dinner with Steve Macevicz the Friday before the festivities began, Randy Kaul grabbing my chair and refusing to let me leave his side at the Potluck, speaking to Anna Chaboudy from Larry Bernhard's cell phone, visiting Bob Walker's Cat's House, meeting Leland Leslie's wife Marilyn (she is one classy lady), re-connecting with Sheila Mone, the insightful focus group led by Woody Hamilton in Mike Filson's beautiful garden in Bonita, defending my husband at the Country Club when he was told to tuck in his shirt (we won) and dancing with Gene La Fond (who do you think you're kidding, Gene--you're a great dancer).  It was wonderful seeing so many old friends again and expanding my acquaintance with people I didn't know well in school (Terry Antrim--expect a visit from us--you offered).  All in all, a very successful party.
